RRS Shock Tower Notching Kit

RRS Shock Tower Notching Kit

The RRS notching kit is an optional system that will increase the distance between your shock towers by up to 11 inches, allowing ample space for that mammoth 426 or 429 big block as well as turbo small block and hard-to-fit header applications.

The best part of all is that you retain the integrity (strength) of your shock towers, giving you all the room you need to install that monster Ford V8 in that engine bay. Then, look no further than the combination of the RRS Strut and Brake Kits and the RRS Shock Tower Notching Kit.

THIS IS “OPTIONAL” RRS shock tower notching kit to free up 10 – 10.5 inches in your engine bay @ AUD$350

CAMMER shock tower notching kit

Gives You up to 10.5” of Engine Bay Space

Notching kits are optional. The RRS coil-over suspension kits and rack and pinion steering systems are bolt-in and do not require any modification to your classic ford.

The XK Falcon, which was built to take a straight six, had a 70cm wide engine bay (shock tower top to tower top). Over the generational changes of Falcon, the engine bays expanded. But it wasn't until the EA series the engine bays exceeded 80cm in width. 80cm being the width of the Boss 5.4L motors in the XR8.

Question

"I want to put 427 dark blocks in my XB coupe but it won't fit. I want to run 17x8 globe Bathurst replica mags and adjust the ride height so the tyre sits just right, so I can't use a Mustang2 style front clip, what can I do?"

Answer

The Cammer shock tower notching kit will allow you to fit a big block, stock Barra turbo, or modular V8 from an XR8. The RRS coil-overs will allow height, ride, and camber adjustment.

RRS Notching Kit Installation Instructions

Instructions for none 67/68 applications. Instructions for 69-70 or 64 ½ - 66 are different.

  • 67-68 shock tower notching panels can be fitted to 64 ½ - 66 and 69-70 Mustang using the original 64 ½ - 66 and 69-70 Mustang top fender panel.
  • It is recommended to bolt the shock tower into the original bump stop mounting plate bolt holes and use some kind of fabricated brace or export brace to maintain the top of the original tower location. This will require some fabrication where the location of the top of the tower joins the fender rail.
  • It is recommended NOT to use the 69-70 Mustang lower control arm mounting bracket. Instead, fabricate a small plate to cover the top of the lower control arm up-right after the removal.
